Day 01 – October 18,  Saturday
Arrive at Dabolim Airport, Goa.  You will be picked up at the airport.

Day 02 – October 19, Sunday – Ekadasi Vrat
Introduction to the Oral Tradition, discourse and discussion with Baba Rampuri. This day, being the 11th day of the dark side of the moon, Ekadasi Vrat, is especially auspicious.

Day 03 – October 20, Monday – First Day of Diwali
Discussion about Shiva because Monday or “Moon” day is Shiva’s day, on He is honoured.  Ladies will have opportunity to offer raw cow’s milk to the Shivalinga.  And today, the first day of the Deepavali celebration, “Govatsa Dwadashi,” we will honour cows and calves with offerings of wheat.  Those who observe Govatsa Dwadashi abstain from wheat and milk during the day.

Day 04 – October 21, Tuesday – Dhanteras
Today is the 2nd day of the six day Diwali celebration.  We will make a small puja to Dhanwantari, the celestial physician, who rose out of the Ocean of Milk with his jug of the Nectar of Immortality on this day.

Day 05 – October 22, Wednesday – Choti Diwali – 14th dark lunar fortnight
Today is the the 14 dark lunar fortnight observed as one of the 12 Shivaratri-s in the calendar year, but this one is also observed in North India as (Small) Choti Diwali, and in Karnataka as the major Diwali festival. We will travel to the jungle of Kollur, Karnataka, and arrive at the temple of the Mother Goddess, Mookambika, just in time for the major celebrations.

Depart for a beautiful drive through Goa, down the lush coastline of Karnataka to Kollur.  About a mile before Kollur, we will stop at a clearing in the Sacred Forest to offer our respects to the Forest Guardian Sprits, at an ancient, primitive shrine.  We will have lunch along the way.

04:00 – 05:15 PM
Arrive in Kollur, check in at the Ashwati Hotel.

05:15 – 06:00 PM
Meeting with Baba Rampuri to discuss the evening in the temple.  Although this day in North India is called “Little Diwali,” it is observed here in Kollur as the main Diwali.

06:30 – 07:30 PM
Enter and circumambulate the Temple Compound of the Mother Mookambika.

07:30 – 08:30 PM
Pradosha Puja.  Darshan.  Arati.  We will all offer lamps and make puja to the Mother Goddess in her innermost shrine, the Sanctum Sanctorum.

08:30 – 09:30 PM
We will make a group puja to the Great Mother lead by one of the High Priests of the temple. There will also be musicians and dancers who will perform for the Goddess Saraswati in the Saraswati Mandap.

10:00 – 11:00 PM
Traditional “Kollur-Karnataka Thali” dinner

Day 06 – October 23, Thursday – Amavasya/No Moon – Night of the Goddess – Diwali
Today is the Amavasya, the Moonless Night, on which the great Diwali celebrations and Lakshmi Puja take place all over India. We will add our lights to the flickering vine of lights circling the globe, perform the rites to the Mother Goddess, ask for prosperity for all, as well as offer our creative instruments and talents to Her for Her blessings.

Darshan – The Temple of the Goddess Mookambika.  Everyone may bring their creative instruments: musical, brushes, pens, works-in-progess, completed works, to offer to Her, for Her blessings.

8:00 – 11:00 AM
Havan – We will have the high priests of Mookambika perform a vedic fire sacrifice to Chandi Devi, for the liberation of Speech and Creativity, for peace, and for prosperity.  Then Baba Rampuri will give teachings about the Great Mother.

12:00 – 01:30 PM

02:30 – 04:00 PM
Sacred bath/swim in the River Sauparnika, sister of Mookambika, known for the healing and rejuvenating qualities of Her Waters.

04:00 – 06:00 PM
Shopping in the Temple Bazaar (mainly religious items and trinkets).

07:00 – 09:00 PM
Temple of Mookambika.
After temple pujas and arati, there will be musicians and dancers who will perform for the Goddess Saraswati in the Saraswati Mandap.  Peter Pannke will make a performance of Devi Drupad for the Goddess, Herself.  A rare and marvellous darshan.

09:30 – 10:00 PM
Traditional “Kollur-Karnataka Thali” dinner.

Day 07 – October 24, Friday
Today is the the Pratipada or the first day of the bright half of the moon, celebrated in some Indian communities as New Years Day, and is certainly an auspicious day for new beginnings. We bid farewell to the Goddess Mookambika, depart Kollur, stop briefly to thank the Forest Guardian Spirits, and return to Goa enjoying the marvellous Karnataka tropical coastline.

Today is the last days of the Diwali observances marked by sisters praying for happiness and long life for their brothers, and brothers giving gifts to sisters. We we take this moment to discuss all that has happened during this period of honouring the Mother Goddess.
