Istvan Sky (from Hungary) “the Song of the Butterfly” joins dervish Suryademah (from Iran) playing electric baglama in a live performance of contemporary Indian, spiritual, and Sufi music at the dhuni of Baba Rampuri during Mahashivaratri 2019.
The live performance was highlighted by tabla virtuoso Naveen Gandharva and his brother, Devanand Gandharva playing keyboards, originally from Ujjain. Classical trained jazz bassist, Phillip Meshcheryakov is from Russia adapting his style to new time signatures and scales. Sonali Chakraborty, of Baul parentage and tradition, from Calcutta, performed Baul songs and style, about halfway through the video. Vivek Philip and Ranjit Arapurakal played backup drums and Shayne Ballantyne played guitar. All from India.
