Suryademah Electric Baglama – Mahashivaratri 2019 at Baba’s Dhuni – “Homage to Pir Shams”
During the three days Mahashivaratri celebrations at Baba Rampuri’s dhuni in Goa (2019), Pir Shams, known as Pir Keshav Puri Maharaj by Naga Babas, was remembered.
This is a very contemporary interpretation of a traditional Sufi song, “Homage to Pir Shams.”
Suryademah, a dervish from Iran, singing and playing the electric baglama, is joined by Naveen Gandharva (india) on tablas, Istvan Sky (Hungary) and his angelic singing, Phillip Meshcheryakov (Russia) on the standup bass, and Vivek Philip (India) on drumset.
The fusion of these great musicians and singers resembles a Eurasian zeitgeist.
