Hari Puri Ashram Yajna, Haridwar
Yajna on the banks of the Ganga, at Hari Puri Ashram in Haridwar. Baba Rampuri hosts Manoj Mehta, the Yajaman.
A yajna is the offering of the fire. Before Agni, the sacred fire, the Yajaman (the one for whom the rite is held) and the Purohits who carry the Vedic liturgy make their offerings of ghee, grain, and herbs. With each offering the word svāhā is spoken, and the fruit of the act is released with the words idaṃ na mama: “this is not mine.” That release is the heart of the sacrifice.
These are recordings of yajnas and homas held over the years at the dhuni in Goa and on the banks of the Ganga at Haridwar, performed by master Purohits.
