Mahashivaratri, the Great Night of Shiva, falls on the fourteenth night (Chaturdashi) of the waning moon in the month of Phalguna. Through the night devotees keep vigil, offer the abhishek of the Shiva linga, and recite His mantras and stotras. The next Mahashivaratri is Saturday, 6 March 2027.
